C. moschata. ~ 120-150+ days

Experience the vibrant taste of Latin America with Green Ayote Squash, a vigorous heirloom variety revered for its emerald-green fruits with tender flesh, perfect for roasting, soups, stews, and more. The fast-growing plants are highly prolific, providing an abundant harvest that stores well for a good few months. This is still a very rare landrace and this was/still is, a highly revered variety because of its green flesh. This is a mor bell or pear shaped strain/ version. It was a Pre-Colombian, Nauhtl (Aztec) and Mayan sacred variety utilized in fertility rituals and to honor deities, primarily Chalchiuhtlicue/Ix Chel as squash seeds (alongside beans and maize) were her dress ornaments and the fields belonged to her/were her dresses) but also Coatlicue, Xochiquetzal, Xochipilli, and many others. Fruits, when ripe, turn an orange-tan hue.

Pretty resistant to squash bugs and vine borer. PLEASE NOTE, THIS IS A LONG SEASON VARIETY. Northern growers might have some difficulty, but it is not impossible. Fruits can be harvested before a freeze/frost and stored inside to allow to ripen/mature.

~25 seed minimum per packet. 85% germination, 01/2025.
